The Platinum Jubilee 2022 is here, and we have all been looking very forward to the big weekend.

Her Majesty The Queen completes an unprecedented milestone this year as she marks 70 years on the throne and celebrates a Platinum Jubilee. Did you know – Jubilees are named after precious stones? Queen Elizabeth II marks her 4th major jubilee having already celebrated Silver, Golden, and Diamond.  What are you going to be doing to commemorate this weekend?   There’s so many events over the coming days that will take place all over the borough to mark the Platinum Jubilee, with various groups and organisations collaborating to make this a truly memorable community event. After a two year gap forced by the covid-19 lockdowns, Bourne Festival is back for its 20th anniversary. This year’s festival will also form a major part of the celebrations in the town, opening for an extra day on the Bank Holiday Thursday, for a 4-day weekend packed full with live music, real ale and cider, food, craft and trade stands and Ruger Ruby’s FunFair. Visit www.bournetownevents.co.uk to check out the full itinerary of what’s happening over the Bourne Platinum Jubilee Weekend Facebook page. This Facebook group, Bourne Town Platinum Jubilee, will act as one channel of communication for the activities… Ensure you don’t miss out on the fun going on around our town! This morning, we kicked off our Platinum jubilations with a beautiful, celebratory layered Victoria sponge, decorated with fresh fruits in a Union Jack.  And now we’re ready to get into the street party spirit and honour this royal occasion together and with our loved ones, enjoying some family time and community time.
