Liverpool’s Giant Spectacular was the highlight of Culture Liverpool’s 2018 events season, which celebrated 10 year’s since Liverpool was awarded European Capital of Culture.
The event attracted 1.3million visitors to Liverpool and the Wirral, generating a massive £60.6m for the local economies. Roadphone NRB worked closely with Liverpool City Council’s events team to provide city wide two-way radio, along with remote CCTV and GPS tracking.
Over 500 two-way radios were deployed across the region, providing communications for the event management team, along with security, traffic management and production. A new radio site was installed on the Wirral in time for the event, and all communications were relayed back to the event’s remote multi-agency control room.
Additionally, GPS trackers supported by our radio network were fitted to the Giants, enabling the public to view the location of the Giants at any point via the event website.
