With the introduction of the ATEX Directive (94/9/EC) in July of 2003 it became mandatory for all equipment designed for use in hazardous environments within the European Community to meet these new standards.

Motorola launched their ATEX-approved Professional Series Portable Radios in May 2005. By adding the new ATEX approved versions to the portfolio, it should be easier than ever to find a radio suited to your organization's operating environment.

With a higher classification gas protection (II 2 G EEx ib IIC T4) and dust protection (II 3 D T1300C IP54) a unique Motorola capability - no other manufacturer claims ATEX dust protection - the new products are the standard bearer for Intrinsically Safe handportable radios.

The GP380EX with up to 255 communication channels is designed for the more sophisticated 2 way radio user in hazardous environments. With a full keypad and extra functions it can communicate with a larger number of users and groups.
